Well, it has been a few weeks since I have been able to post anything for you here at the Proactive Security Blog. My apologies for having dropped off the radar so abruptly. I wanted to take a moment to check-in and let you know that I am still alive.
This current hiatus was brought about by a couple of factors. First and foremost, there have been some exciting changes at work that have resulted in some extra long hours at the office. My organization has recently extended my responsibilities to include a full transition of our security forces from what was a hybrid system (some employed and some contracted) to a fully integrated in-house team. This is genuinely exciting as it allows us to lay the foundation for a wholly new approach to healthcare security. As we are working to bring the team in house and standardize our operations across 11 hospitals, we are laying the foundation for what we intend to be the most clinically integrated healthcare security force in the industry. We are building a team of violence prevention specialists that are true partners in the patient care team. I hope that as this project progresses, I will be able to share more about what we are working towards and how we attain our goals. It truly is exciting stuff.
The other factors are less surprising, the enormous increase in my regular workload has come at the same time as the holidays while undergoing a major spike in COVID cases. I am committed to the work ahead, but I am also committed to balancing that workload with my family commitments. I have an incredibly supportive wife and three awesome children to whom I owe my time and attention. Amid all the extra work, and my commitment to family time, I have had to admit that I cannot do it all. My hiatus from regular blogging has been one key area where that has shown up. But that does not mean I don’t miss you all terribly.
I do see some light at the end of this tunnel on the other side of the holidays, and I will return to regular blogging soon. Until then, I will post what I can. I hope you all understand, and I hope we will be able to talk soon. Until then, thank you all for the continued support.
